Bragg, Edward S. Captain. 6th Wisconsin
Infantry, Co E. Brigadier General, 6th Wisconsin Volunteers.
Bragg was an attorney from Fond du Lac who enlisted on May 5th, 1861 along with
Edwin Brown and assisted by him formed Bragg's rifles which latter became
Company E. Bragg was elected the Captain. As the growing pains of
the young army of the Potomac sifted through the officers, separating the
wheat from the chaff, Bragg found himself promoted quickly to Major of the 6th.
He eventually earned the rank of Brigadier General of Volunteers. After
the war he became a diplomat and served as ambassador to both Cuba and Hong
Kong. He died June 20th, 1912. He is Buried in Fond du Lac, at the Rienzi cemetery. Fond du Lac
County, WI.
