McCollum, Henry R. Served in Co. H, 2nd Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry. He enlisted June 15, 1861 and was listed as a resident of Dekorra township near Portage Wisconsin. Henry is listed as" Killed in Action-July 1, 1863" and is buried in grave B-13 of the Wisconsin plot in the Gettysburg National Cemetery. I remember, I believe, that he was killed around the area of McPherson's Woods. Henry's father was Dr. James McCollum who also served out of Wisconsin and was a surgeon in the war. Archibald McCollum, Henry's Uncle, also served with Henry in the same unit. James' Nephew (Henry's Cousin?) Oliver Tillotson was a member of the 2nd, Co H as well. I was reading material on the internet and came across a morning report from the field that Henry, in the morning hours, had been shot in the abdomen and lived several hours before he finally died. - Paula Talbot
