Gochy (Gocha) Charles. Company F, 24th Michigan Volunteer Infantry. Charles enlisted on 8/13/1862, at we believe 26 years of age. He enlisted at Detroit, MI as a private. On 8/15/1862 he mustered into "F" Co. MI 24th Infantry. Charles was wounded at Gettysburg. He was latter transferred on 3/31/1864 to the "96th" Co. of the Veteran Reserve Corps. {This corps consisted of many men who were not fit enough to fight in active campaigns but who volunteered and were still well enough to serve their country. They often served as guards and escorts.} Charles was discharged on 7/19/1865 at Baltimore, MD. He died in Gaylord, MI, 7/04/1904. His name was Charles Gochy, however in the family history the name was spelled Gocha, Gochy and Gochey. Submitted by Bruce Dishaw
